Autumn drops
like a wet cold
omen.  Summer
hardy vines shriek in frost
to die, while even trees weep
all their warm triumph
to survive and call
that mourning glory.

Autumn falls
in chocolate tones
to welcome
in the night of crystal myth.

  1. Reading this the first time, I missed the first comma and read the line as “Autumn drops like a wet cold” which seemed quite apt and a bit more original than autumn as a harbinger of winter.

Good to see some of the earlier work reappearing like old friends. .
